Leadership style can make or break a team. Many leaders aim to foster a positive, supportive atmosphere, but often, they confuse being nice with being kind. While both qualities might seem similar on the surface, the difference between being a nice leader and a kind leader is profound, particularly when it comes to focus, impact, motivation, and overall approach.

Nice leaders may strive to please everyone, avoid conflict, and make decisions that offer immediate comfort to their teams. However, this often leads to long-term challenges that prevent growth, accountability, and true leadership. On the other hand, kind leaders prioritize growth, honesty, and long-term success, even if that means making tough decisions that might cause temporary discomfort. So, how do we differentiate between these two leadership styles, and more importantly, how can we ensure we’re practicing kindness rather than just being nice?
